The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is looking for a senior criminal lawyer and experienced manager to job-share the role of Managing Principal Solicitor - Prosecutions. The role is the department’s most senior criminal lawyer and manages a team to deliver an effective prosecutions and infringements management function to complement the department’s regulatory functions.

The successful applicant will be responsible for co-managing the prosecution of offenders and the provision of legal advice across a broad range of laws, including those relating to Victoria’s parks, forests, natural resources and wildlife including providing support for priority investigations and building capability in the Department’s criminal investigations functions.

The ideal candidate has combined their experience as a senior practitioner in criminal law with strong people leadership skills. You bring nous and judgement to making risk-based decisions to manage the team’s resources according to the department’s highest priorities, and you take pride in your people leadership and your ability to manage and support a passionate and hard working team. You will bring outstanding collaboration and teamwork to do your part to make sure this job-share opportunity is a success.

We do not exaggerate when we say we have a positive and supportive culture in all of our Legal teams. You will be surrounded by people who are professional, engaged in their work and collaborative. We are trying not to sound too ‘geeky’ but the reality is we really are a friendly bunch of people.
If criminal law and prosecutions runs through your veins, if you get a buzz from knowing you are contributing to protecting the Victorian natural environment, and, if forming internal stakeholder relationships is as easy as breathing for you – we encourage you to apply.
