About the Role You’ll join our clients' team in a broad commercial practice supporting founders and established SMEs through the full business lifecycle — from setup and growth to deals, franchising and disputes. This role suits a lawyer who enjoys owning their files, building trusted client relationships, and contributing to the way a modern firm grows.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of commercial matters end-to-end with minimal hand-holding
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts (supply, services, consulting)
• Advise startups and SMEs on day-to-day commercial and growth issues
• Work on business sales and acquisitions (sale/purchase docs, DD support, negotiations)
• Support franchising matters (franchise agreements, compliance-focused advice)
• Assist with dispute resolution strategy, negotiations, and ADR pathways
• Mentor and support junior lawyers; lift capability across the team
• Contribute ideas to improve systems, client experience, and the firm’s growth

About You

• Admitted in Victoria and able to practise
• 2+ years’ experience in commercial law (private practice or in-house)
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with practical judgement
• Confident running files with appropriate support and escalation
• Client-first communicator with empathy and professionalism
• Interested in mentoring and helping build a high-performing, healthy team
• Curious, improvement-minded, and comfortable doing things “differently”
