Description
Junior Solicitor / Law Graduate - Family Law
Are you a recent law graduate or a first-year admitted solicitor with a passion for making a real difference in people's lives? Do you want to join a supportive, community-focused family law practice that values a collaborative work environment?
We are a suburban family law firm looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. While previous experience in family law is desirable, it is not essential. Above all, we’re looking for someone who is a cultural fit for our firm—a person who values contributing to a supportive, inclusive, and compassionate environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide excellent service and communication to family law clients.
Work independently on family law files, with the support and mentorship of the practice director.
Assist with family law matters including divorce, property settlements, parenting orders, and financial agreements.
Represent clients in negotiations, mediation and in Court, including instructing Counsel.
Legal research and analysis.
We Offer:
Supportive environment: We leave our egos at the door, and we have each other's backs 100% of the time. We go above and beyond for our clients, and each other. The firm offers uncapped incentives, paid quarterly. We have systems set up for billing that mean our lawyers don't have to chase clients for payment of invoices.
Training & Development: We participate in regular professional development, and are absolutely prepared to upskill you in the areas you're interested in. All of our current staff are undertaking further study in some shape or form, and we create space to ensure that work/study/life can co-exist without compromising our effectiveness.
Diverse Legal Exposure: We are a private firm, and the overwhelming majority of our cases resolve without the need for litigation. That being said, we value being able to provide accurate and up-to-date advice about prospects, a skill we believe can only be learned in the Court room. For this reason, we take on strictly limited legally aided and/or pro bono litigation cases, that generally involve legal or procedural complex issues. You will get court room experience here, advocacy opportunities (if you want them) and the opportunity to brief Counsel with whom you will form lasting professional relationships.
Volunteering and Community outreach opportunities: Our staff volunteer with community legal centres, charities and participate in both legal and non-legal community groups. Service is part of our DNA, and we value the skills and relationships that are developed as part of giving back.
On-site parking and easy access to Brisbane's north: We've worked in the city too. It's fancy, but we sure do appreciate not having to pay for parking any more.
Essential Skills & Attributes:
A law degree, recent admission to practice or eligibility for immediate admission (ie - PLT completed).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic and client-centred approach.
Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
A genuine interest in family law and helping clients navigate challenging legal issues.
If you are passionate about supporting families, and want to be part of a firm that cares for both its clients and its people, we would love to hear from you!
How to Apply: Please send your resume and a cover letter outlining why you would be a great fit for our team to Ashlyn Trebbin: *****@thrivelawco.com.au
Interviews for the role will take place asap, with immediate start ideal.
