About the Position:

Our client is looking for an Environment & Planning Lawyer (3–6 PAE) to join our clients' team in Brisbane as part of an integrated Environment & Planning practice within a broader Commercial Real Estate group.

This is a role for someone who enjoys variety and wants to build deep expertise across a blend of advisory, transactional and strategic litigation work.

You’ll be exposed to matters that directly support Australia’s energy and infrastructure pipeline, including:

• Planning and environmental approvals for wind, solar, pumped hydro and transmission projects
• Due diligence and risk allocation on acquisitions, disposals, leasing and project development
• Advice on contaminated land, remediation frameworks and environmental incident response
• Regulatory strategy, negotiations with regulators and stakeholder engagement
• Climate risk and sustainability issues (including reporting risk and “greenwashing” considerations)
• Environmental markets exposure (e.g., carbon-related arrangements and emerging schemes)
• Disputes work including judicial review/merits review style matters, enforcement and prosecutions (where relevant)

You’ll be trusted with meaningful responsibility, supported by senior practitioners, and encouraged to develop a market profile through client contact and thought leadership.

Key Requirements:

• 3–6 years’ PAE in environment and planning, major projects, or related regulatory practice
• Experience with approvals pathways, conditions compliance, and regulator negotiations
• Strong drafting skills (advices, submissions, contract mark-ups and correspondence)
• Confident communication style with clients and stakeholders
• Commercial mindset and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Interest in the energy transition, infrastructure and complex developments
• Team-first approach, with a genuine desire to keep learning and step up
