- Wills & Estates Lawyer
Description
Wills & Estates Lawyer | 3–5 PQE | Full-time or part-time | East Brunswick + work from home | Salary to be discussed
Nest Legal is looking for an experienced Wills & Estates Lawyer with around 3–5 years’ PQE to join our growing team.
We’re looking for someone who knows their way around estate planning and estate administration, genuinely enjoys working with people, and wants to practise law in a firm that is thoughtful about how legal work should be done.
At Nest Legal, we do things a little differently.
We are a women-led, values-driven Melbourne law firm with established Family Law, Wills & Estates and Property & Conveyancing teams. We combine strong legal work with clear communication, fixed fees, smart systems and a very human approach to our clients.
The role
You will work across a varied Wills & Estates practice and manage your own matters with the support of an experienced and collaborative team.
Your work may include:
- preparing wills, powers of attorney and other estate planning documents;
- advising on simple through to more sophisticated estate planning strategies;
- discretionary testamentary trusts and asset protection structures;
- probate and letters of administration;
- estate administration;
- working with accountants, financial advisers and other professionals where matters require multidisciplinary advice; and
- contributing to the continued development of our precedents, systems, workflows and client experience.
Requirements
Who we’re looking for
You’re likely to have around 3–5 years’ post-admission experience, with a solid grounding in wills and estates.
Just as importantly, you will be someone who:
- communicates complex legal concepts in clear, everyday language;
- is warm and confident with clients;
- has strong drafting and technical skills;
- exercises sound judgment and knows when to ask for another view;
- takes ownership of their matters while enjoying being part of a team;
- is organised and comfortable managing competing priorities;
- cares about providing an excellent client experience;
- is curious about better ways of working;
- is confident with technology and willing to experiment with new tools and systems; and
- values collaboration, continuous improvement and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
Experience across both estate planning and probate / estate administration will be highly regarded.
Experience with Smokeball is a bonus, but certainly not essential.
Flexibility that works in real life
We understand that good lawyers have lives outside work.
This role can be structured as full-time or part-time, depending on the right candidate.
We offer a hybrid working environment with the ability to work from home, balanced with time in our East Brunswick office for client appointments, collaboration and team connection.
About Nest Legal
Nest Legal is a modern, multidisciplinary law firm based in Melbourne’s inner north.
Our clients often come to us at significant moments in their lives — planning for their family’s future, navigating separation, buying or selling property, or dealing with the death of someone they love.
That shapes the way we practise.
We believe clients deserve excellent legal advice without unnecessary complexity. Our communication is clear, our fees are transparent and we try very hard not to sound like lawyers unless we actually need to.
Behind that client experience is a team that values kindness, curiosity, accountability, good systems and doing excellent work.
We are ambitious about what a small law firm can be — without wanting to become a big one.
Interested?
We’d love to hear from lawyers who are looking for more than simply their next role.
Please send your CV together with a short note telling us a little about you, what you’re looking for next, and why working at Nest Legal caught your attention to nest@nestlegal.com.au.
